New look Living magazine

2015-living-marchWe have made some exciting changes following feedback from the Harrison Research program where our members provided feedback on a range of topics including the Living magazine content and circulation.

To address this feedback we undertook an extensive review of the Living magazine with the view to producing a better member magazine.

As a result the magazine has been refreshed and has increased in size from 16 to 36 pages allowing us to include a greater level of content relevant to our members, including the latest diabetes and associated health information, food/nutrition information and recipes, membership benefits and health information from experts in their field linked to new sessions, seminars and events. Living will now be circulated three times and year, and if you are a member you will receive your copy in March, July and November.

Glycaemic index or GI is a measure of how quickly blood glucose levels may rise after eating a food containing carbohydrate.

Many things can change the GI of a food including the way food is cooked. The following article discusses a small study which demonstrates the way we choose to eat food (e.g. with a spoon or chopsticks) may also change the GI of a food.

'Mindless Eating' is quite common and occurs when you're eating something but your mind is elsewhere; so you don't realise how much you have eaten and cannot tell when you have had enough.
