Discovery offers hope for improving physical performance as we age

Researchers from UNSW and Harvard have identified that replacing two naturally occurring molecules can reverse the ageing process of blood vessels in mice, boosting the animals' physical endurance. The researchers found that the two molecules could replicate the benefits of exercise, a finding that could lead to better athletic performance, improved mobility in the elderly and the prevention of ageing-associated diseases like cardiac arrest, stroke, liver failure and dementia.

Fundraising news

Winners Are Grinners Lottery 2018

winners-grinners-2016-DSAOur first lottery for 2018 is now here and this time we are doing things a little differently. A review of our lotteries indicated a need to evolve. The goal is to move towards a largely electronic lottery model to save costs and increase funds for use by the organisation for important future projects.

We will be offering books at $5 per ticket or $30 per book of 6 tickets. Arthritis SA will be assisting to manage our Winners Are Grinners lottery with phone support and sales processing, with proceeds going to Diabetes SA.

Your ongoing support for this new direction is vital. Our lottery VIPs will be contacted by phone to explain the change in process and seek support through the purchase of a book of 6 tickets. Where possible, the ticket range will be sent via email, however if you prefer a hard copy book, we can arrange that for you!

A reduced reliance on printed books and a more efficient means of processing will see significant savings and improved sales, therefore overall results for the organisation and its members.

Tax Appeal

As the end of the financial year is approaching, we will soon be seeking your support for our upcoming Tax Appeal. This is great time to support the organisation as all donations of $2 and over are tax deductible. Our Appeals are an important way that the Association can generate funds. Your generosity is important to enable us to continue to provide existing programs and services, and also those planned for the future.

Diabetes SA Research Grants

As part of our mission, Diabetes SA through the generous support of our members and the community of South Australia has been able to support research into diabetes almost since our inception. Our commitment to funding research that is directed towards prevention, detection, management of diabetes and the identification, delivery and performance of services is paramount.
