ADIPS Consensus Guidelines For The Testing And Diagnosis Of Gestational Diabetes In Australia

The Australasian Diabetes in Pregnancy Society (ADIPS) originally formulated recommendations for the testing and diagnosis of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) in 1991. These guidelines were primarily based on expert opinion. Based on recent evidence, ADIPS has elected to revise these guidelines in the current document. Levels of evidence based on published studies and recommendations for future research are summarized at the end of the document.

The project to develop a national consensus on diabetes patient education was commissioned by Diabetes Australia and funded by the National Diabetes Services Scheme (NDSS) with the aims of:

  1. Developing a national evidence/consensus position statement on the key desired goals and outcomes of diabetes education.
  2. Identifying nationally agreed indicators for assessing the effectiveness of diabetes education in achieving these goals and outcomes.
